"TEMPUS FUGIT"
Geof Whitely Project – Tempus Fugit
Time certainly flies when listening to the latest offering from Geof Whitely Project. There is not real need to have blind trust in what you’re going to get from this wonderfully melodic project. OK, so that’s a bit of a play on words, but the opening track, “Caeca Fides”, the title had me reaching for my old Latin School Books. A melodic piece, as always, with a tale to tell.
The tracks are all up to, and beyond, the expected standard from Geof Whitely Project, moving along with a haunting groove that takes you on a taxi ride through the music. Each track has something different to offer, but all maintain the melodic, structured approach that gently eases the listener in and before you know it you’ve listened to the whole album.
“Live to Die” lifts the tempo but loses none of the tone of the album, a certain ‘sing along’ type track this one, in the best possible way.
“What if” will get the old grey matter working, nice use of a voice to start the ball rolling, and off we go, ten minutes to contemplate the lyrics on offer.
So, in quick summary, there are ear worms a plenty, there are tales of ghostly limousines, particle physics, Latin all wrapped up in yet another quality release, no a simply marvellous release from Geof Whitely Project.
